A dining service employee will need to be highly motivated, have a strong sense of customer service, adhere to safety and sanitation policies, be detail oriented, be able to lift and move objects up to 40 lbs., and work while standing in a busy environment with direct supervision. Knowledge of food service equipment helpful, and teamwork is essential.
A cook position at the Mountain Campus is an essential part of our dining services operation. In addition to the qualities listed for dining services, a cook at the Mountain Campus needs to possess leadership qualities and be willing to provide assistance and direction to the employees in the kitchen. Experience working in a kitchen environment, ability to follow and adapt recipes, knowledge of food sanitation practices and kitchen service equipment, and confidence in cooking for large groups are desirable qualities for this position.
Office and Store
These positions require good communication and customer service skills. Applicants must have basic computer skills utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite, the ability to answer the phone, take messages, direct calls and interact with the public. Positions require attention to detail, handling of money and ability to work with a small cash register and credit card machine. Office/Store staff needs to be flexible yet able to follow set work policies and procedures, and must be motivated and able to exhibit a friendly, customer service attitude under stress. Lead Office/Store position: In addition to the above, the Lead Office/Store position is responsible for office/store staff scheduling, special projects, assisting with training of new staff and other duties as assigned. This lead position requires full-season work availability (Mid-May to Mid-October).
Housekeepers take charge of cleaning the guest facilities and bathrooms, setting up furniture and audio-visual equipment in meeting rooms, and transporting furniture, equipment, and supplies to various locations. Staff must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 lbs., drive the housekeeping vehicle safely, learn the safe use of cleaning products, prioritize job duties, work within deadlines, and maintain a high degree of self-motivation. Crew Leader: The Crew Leader prioritizes and assigns housekeeping duties to be accomplished daily, participates in the duties, and keeps the crew on task. The Leader places orders for linens and housekeeping supplies, keeps an accurate calendar of days off for the crew, and reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor. This lead position requires full-season work availability (Mid-May to Mid-October).
Crew members will be involved in some or all of the following: remodeling small cabins, painting, roofing, landscaping, moving furniture, fence building, and small miscellaneous duties. Self-motivation, common sense, and the safe use of tools and equipment are required. Mechanical aptitude is necessary and general building skills are useful. The position requires moderate to heavy lifting and work is done in all weather conditions.
The driver is responsible for safely transporting food and materials between the main CSU campus in Fort Collins and the Mountain Campus. This position requires an excellent driving record and experience or skills driving a delivery truck and trailer on mountain roads. The driver must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and will be expected to load and unload the truck and keep track of orders. Time management, problem-solving, attention to details and safety, and sound decision-making are essential skills for the driver. The ability to work independently and cooperatively is critical. The driver may live in Fort Collins or at the Mountain Campus.
Challenge Course Facilitator
Facilitators work with a wide variety of groups on the Challenge Course leading team building initiatives, and low and high element experiences. Strong interpersonal abilities, time management, problem-solving, attention to details and safety, sound decision-making and technical skills are essential for the position. The ability to work independently and cooperatively is critical, and previous or comparable experience is recommended. Eco-Week is an environmental education program offered to 5th and 6th grade students. These positions (4) provide class instruction and daily oversight for the program, lead campfire and evening activities, help coordinate logistics with teachers, facilitate ropes course and adventure components, and guide day hikes. A strong passion for outdoor activities and environmental education, and previous experience working with youth in the outdoors is strongly recommended. This position starts in Mid-August and finishes in Mid-October.
